Social media management cost in India in 2026

Short answer: Social media management in India is priced by scope, not by a fixed market rate. The fee depends on how many platforms, posts and Reels you need, whether ads are managed, and how much reporting you get. Ad spend is a separate cost. Compare quotes line by line on what is included.
How much does social media management cost in India?
There is no single market rate. Agencies publish their own price ranges, and those ranges depend heavily on what each package includes.
A low monthly fee might cover a handful of designed posts on one platform. A higher fee might cover video, two or three platforms, community replies and paid ads. Comparing headline prices without comparing scope tells you very little.
So the useful question is not the price alone. Ask what you get for the fee, and what is billed on top.
What is included at different levels?
Most offers in India fall into three broad levels. The names change from agency to agency, but the shape is similar.
| Level | Typical scope | Ads | Reporting | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | 1 platform, a set number of designed posts, captions and hashtags | Usually not included, or boosting only | Monthly summary | A small brand that just needs to show up |
| Growth | 2 platforms, posts plus Reels, content calendar, basic community replies | Meta ads managed, creative for ads | Monthly report with leads and cost per lead | A business that wants enquiries, not just a feed |
| Full service | 3 or more platforms, more video, shoots or AI video, influencer coordination | Meta and Google ads, more ad creatives, landing page input | Fortnightly or weekly, with a strategy call | Brands with a sales team or several locations |
Treat this as a way to read quotes, not a price list. Ask each agency which column their offer sits in.
What drives the cost up or down?
Five things move the price more than anything else.
- Volume of content. Twelve posts a month is a different job from thirty. Reels take longer than static posts.
- Who shoots the footage. If the agency sends a shooter or a team to your location, the cost rises. If your staff film on a phone, it falls.
- Number of platforms. Each platform needs its own sizes, captions and timing. Two platforms is not double the work, but it is more.
- Paid ads. Managing Meta or Google ads adds set-up, tracking, testing and weekly changes. Ad spend itself is extra.
- Reporting and meetings. A monthly email report costs less than a weekly call and a live dashboard.
Smaller factors include the number of languages, approval rounds, festive campaigns and how fast you need replies to comments.
What is usually not included in the monthly fee?
Ad spend is almost never included, and it should not be. It goes to Meta or Google from your own ad account.
Other items often billed separately:
- Professional photo or video shoots.
- Influencer or creator fees.
- Paid stock music, images or tools.
- Website or landing page builds.
- A one-time set-up or onboarding fee.
Ask for these in writing. A cheap retainer can turn expensive once the extras arrive.
How do agency, freelancer and in-house costs compare?
Each option costs money in a different way. Our guide on choosing between an agency, a freelancer or an in-house team goes deeper.
| Option | What you pay for | Hidden cost |
|---|---|---|
| Freelancer | Their time, usually per month or per post | Cover when they are ill, busy or move on |
| In-house hire | Salary, tools, laptop, training | Management time, and one person rarely does design, video and ads well |
| Agency | A team across content, design, video and ads | Less day-to-day access than a staff member |
In-house can work out cheaper per post when volume is high and steady. An agency usually makes more sense when you need ads and creative together.
Worked example (example numbers): A café chain with three outlets wants Instagram and Facebook managed, plus Meta ads.
They compare an agency plan at ₹50,000 a month with a one-time set-up fee of ₹25,000.
They plan ad spend of ₹30,000 a month, paid directly to Meta from their own ad account.
Month one costs ₹50,000 + ₹25,000 + ₹30,000 = ₹1,05,000.
From month two it costs ₹50,000 + ₹30,000 = ₹80,000 a month.
If ads bring 200 enquiries in a month, the cost per enquiry on ad spend alone is ₹30,000 ÷ 200 = ₹150.
Counting the agency fee too, it is ₹80,000 ÷ 200 = ₹400 per enquiry. Both numbers are worth tracking.
These figures are for illustration only. Your costs depend on your city, category, offer and season.
Should ChatGPT ads be part of a social media budget?
Not by default, but it is worth knowing about. ChatGPT ads launched in India in late August 2026, as Outlook Business reported.
As of October 2026, Manifest reports that self-serve Ads Manager opened to Indian advertisers from 4 September 2026, with daily budgets from ₹725. That makes a small test possible alongside Meta ads.
Treat it as a separate channel with its own budget and its own reporting. Our ChatGPT ads in India guide explains how it works.
How do you compare two quotes fairly?
Put both quotes in the same table, line by line. Then ask the same questions of each.
- How many posts and how many Reels a month, exactly?
- Who shoots the raw footage?
- Which platforms, and are ads managed on each?
- Is ad spend paid by me directly, and is the ad account in my name?
- What does the report show, and how often?
- What is the notice period, and what happens to my files if I leave?
If an answer is vague, ask again. Our list of questions to ask before hiring a social media agency has more.

Frequently asked questions
Is GST included in social media management quotes?
It varies by provider. Some quote fees before GST and some include it. Ask every agency to state this clearly on the proposal so you compare like with like.
Do I pay more for Reels than for static posts?
Often, yes, because video takes longer to plan, shoot and edit. Some plans count a Reel and a post the same, others price them separately. Ask how many Reels are in the monthly count and who shoots the raw footage.
Can I start with one platform and add more later?
Yes. Many brands start with Instagram, prove what works, and add a second platform once content is steady. Check whether the agency can change scope at month end without a new contract.
What is a fair notice period for a monthly retainer?
Thirty days is a reasonable ask. Be wary of long lock-ins with no exit, especially before you have seen three months of work. Make sure your accounts, ad accounts and content files stay with you if you leave.
Should my agency also reply to comments and messages?
It can, but agree the hours and the escalation rules first. Questions about bookings, complaints and refunds usually need someone from your own team. Write a short reply guide so tone stays consistent.
