How much does a business website cost in India in 2026?

Short answer: There is no single price. Cost depends on how many pages you need, custom or template design, the content system, booking or e-commerce, integrations, who writes the content, and hosting and maintenance. Write down your scope first, then ask each agency for a fixed quote that lists every one of these items separately.
So what does a business website cost in India?
It depends on scope, and quotes vary a lot. A five-page brochure site and a hotel site with live booking are different projects, even if both are called "a website".
You will see agencies publish very wide price ranges for India. The gap is not random. It comes from a handful of choices, listed below. Once you know which ones apply to you, quotes become much easier to compare.
We do not publish a WebMaxs website price. Websites are fixed-price projects, quoted after a free scope call, and built with our development partner CodeGenIT.
What actually drives the cost of a website?
Eight things drive most of the price. Each one is a decision you can make on purpose, rather than a surprise on the invoice.
| Cost driver | What it means | Why it moves the price |
|---|---|---|
| Number of pages | Home, about, services, contact, plus one page per service or location | More pages mean more design, content and testing |
| Design | Ready-made template or custom design for your brand | Custom design takes more hours but fits your business better |
| Content system (CMS) | How you edit text, photos and offers after launch | Setting up an easy editor costs time once, saves time later |
| Booking or e-commerce | Online booking, payments, product catalogue, cart | Adds logic, payment testing and more pages |
| Integrations | CRM, WhatsApp, email tools, analytics, ad tracking | Each connection has to be built and tested |
| Content | Who writes the words and supplies photos and video | Copywriting and photography are real work, often missed in quotes |
| Hosting | Where the site lives and how fast it serves pages | Better hosting costs more each year but helps speed |
| Maintenance | Updates, backups, security fixes and small edits | An ongoing cost, monthly or per change |
How many pages do you really need?
Fewer than you think, but each must earn its place. Start from what customers ask before they buy.
A typical small business site needs a home page, one page per main service, an about page and a contact page. Add a page for each location if you have several. Add a page per key offer if you run ads, so each ad lands on a matching page.
Avoid pages nobody reads, such as long "vision and mission" text. They add cost and make the site slower to update.
Template, website builder or custom build?
Choose based on how much the site has to do, not on the first price you see. Here is how the three options usually compare.
| Option | Good for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Website builder | Very small sites you will edit yourself | Monthly platform fees, limits on speed and features |
| Template on a CMS | Brochure sites with standard layouts | Heavy themes and many plugins can slow the site |
| Custom build | Booking, e-commerce, integrations, strong brand needs | Higher upfront cost; insist on an easy editor for later |
Whichever you choose, check speed on a real phone. Google's web.dev guide to Web Vitals explains the loading, responsiveness and stability measures it uses, as of October 2026. A heavy template can fail them before you add a single photo. Our post on website speed for ads explains the fixes.
What do booking, payments and integrations add?
They add the most cost and the most risk, because they handle money and customer data. Plan them carefully.
- Booking: a hotel, clinic or salon needs live availability, confirmations and a way to handle changes. Our guide on what a hotel booking website needs goes deeper.
- E-commerce: products, stock, payments, shipping rules and order emails. Each needs testing on mobile.
- Integrations: sending enquiries to a CRM or WhatsApp, and sending conversion events to ad platforms. These matter if you run ads, because they tell you which ads bring leads.
Ask every agency exactly which integrations are included, and what happens if a third-party tool changes.
What are the running costs after launch?
A website is not a one-time cost. Budget for these every year:
- Domain renewal: small, but it must never lapse.
- Hosting: shared hosting is cheap; faster, managed hosting costs more.
- Maintenance: updates, backups and security patches, especially on CMS sites with plugins.
- Content updates: new offers, photos, menus or rates. Decide who does this.
- Paid tools: booking engines, forms or chat widgets may charge monthly.
Google's guidance on AI features and your website says the usual SEO basics still apply, as of October 2026. That includes keeping important content in text that can be crawled. So budget for keeping your pages current, not just for building them.
How do you build a budget you can defend?
List your must-haves, then put a rough number against each line. The example below shows the method, not a price.
Worked example (example numbers): a clinic wants 8 pages, a custom design, an online appointment form linked to WhatsApp, and basic tracking for ads.
Suppose the build lines come to: design ₹60,000, pages and CMS ₹40,000, booking form and WhatsApp link ₹30,000, tracking ₹10,000.
Build total: 60,000 + 40,000 + 30,000 + 10,000 = ₹1,40,000.
Suppose yearly running costs are: hosting ₹12,000, domain ₹1,000, maintenance ₹24,000.
Running total: 12,000 + 1,000 + 24,000 = ₹37,000 a year, so the first year comes to ₹1,77,000.
These are example numbers to show the maths. They are not a WebMaxs price or a market rate.
The useful part is the structure. Once your list looks like this, you can ask every agency to quote against the same lines.
How do you compare quotes from different agencies?
Make every quote answer the same questions. Otherwise you are comparing a brochure site with a booking site.
- Send the same written scope to each agency: pages, features, integrations, content.
- Ask for a fixed price, with each cost driver listed separately.
- Ask who writes the content and who supplies photos.
- Ask what hosting is included, for how long, and what it costs after.
- Ask what maintenance covers and how small edits are charged.
- Confirm you will own the domain, hosting access and site files.
- Look at live sites they built, on your phone, not screenshots.
A low quote that leaves out content, booking or maintenance often costs more by the end of the first year.
How does WebMaxs quote a website?
We start with a free scope call, then send a fixed price for the agreed scope. Sites are built with CodeGenIT, our development partner. You can see the kind of work on our concept showcase, and what is included on the websites service page.
Website projects are separate from our monthly marketing plans, which are listed on the pricing page. Many businesses start with the site, then add ads once the pages and tracking are ready.
Frequently asked questions
Is a cheap template website good enough?
It can be, for a simple brochure site with a few pages. The risk is slow loading, generic design and plugins that need constant updates. Check speed on a phone and ask who maintains the plugins before you decide.
Who should own the domain and hosting?
You should. Register the domain in your business's name and keep the login. Hosting can be managed by the agency, but you should have admin access and a copy of the site files.
Do I need to pay for maintenance every month?
Not always, but someone must handle updates, backups, security fixes and small edits. Some businesses pay a monthly fee, others pay per change. Agree which one before launch so nothing is left unowned.
How long does a business website take to build?
It depends on scope and how quickly you supply content and feedback. A small site can move fast, while booking or e-commerce adds testing time. Content delays from the business side are the most common reason projects run late.
Can I add booking or a shop later?
Often yes, if the site is planned for it. Tell the agency at the start what you might add in the next year. It is usually cheaper to leave room for a feature than to rebuild later.
