AI video ads: how they are made and what they cost in India

By the WebMaxs team · · 6 min read

Short answer: AI video ads are made in seven steps: brief, script, AI generation, edit, voiceover, captions and labelling. In India the cost depends on length, the number of versions, how realistic the footage must be, voice and language, and revision rounds. Agencies publish wide ranges, so compare quotes on what each one includes.

What is an AI video ad?

An AI video ad is a short paid ad where some or all of the footage, voice or presenter is made with AI tools. It still needs a human brief, script, edit and approval.

Most AI video ads are vertical and built for Reels, Stories and Shorts. Some are fully generated scenes. Others mix real product footage with AI backgrounds, motion or a voiceover. The mix matters, because it changes both the cost and how you should label the ad.

How is an AI video ad made, step by step?

A good AI video ad follows the same seven steps as any ad, with AI doing the heavy lifting in the middle. Skipping the first two steps is the most common reason AI ads look generic.

1. Brief

One page: who the ad is for, the single offer, the action you want, and what must appear on screen. Include real product photos, brand colours and any claims you can prove.

2. Script

Write the hook for the first seconds, the middle that shows the product or experience, and a clear close. Write two or three hooks for each idea so you can test them.

3. Generation

The team generates scenes, product shots or a presenter with AI tools. This takes many attempts. Hands, text on signs and product details often need fixing or regenerating.

4. Edit

An editor cuts the best takes together, fixes pacing, adds the logo and end card, and checks that the product looks like the real thing.

5. Voice and sound

Add a voiceover, music and sound effects. Use licensed music and a voice you have rights to. Never copy a real person's voice without permission.

6. Captions

Burn in clear captions, so the ad still works for anyone watching with the sound off. Keep on-screen text inside safe areas so platform buttons do not cover it.

7. Labelling

Note which parts are AI-made and set the platform disclosure where it applies. Our guide on whether AI-generated ads are allowed on Facebook and Instagram covers labels and what gets ads rejected.

What drives the cost of an AI video ad in India?

Cost depends far more on scope than on the AI tools. Two quotes for "one AI video" can describe very different work.

When you compare quotes, ask each agency to fill in this table for their price. It turns a vague number into something you can compare.

What do agencies charge for AI video ads in India?

Agencies publish their own price ranges, and those ranges are wide because the scope behind them differs. Treat any published range as one agency's view, not a market rate.

One example is The Impulse Digital's 2026 guide to AI video production cost in India. Another is 1st December's guide to AI ad film cost in India. Read what each range includes before you use it as a yardstick. Prices change, so check the current page rather than relying on an old screenshot (as of October 2026).

Ask every agency the same questions:

  • How many finished ads do I get, and in which sizes?
  • How many hooks or versions of each idea?
  • How many revision rounds are included?
  • Is the voiceover included, and in which languages?
  • Can I use the files in paid ads, and for how long?

Is AI video cheaper than a traditional shoot?

Often it is cheaper per version, because there is no location, crew or talent day. It is not always cheaper per finished film, and it is not always the right choice.

AI suits brands that need many fresh versions to test, or scenes that would be hard to shoot. A real shoot still suits brands whose product, food or space must look exactly right, or who want real staff and real customers on camera. Many brands do both: a shoot for hero footage, then AI to make more versions from it.

How many AI video ads should you make at once?

Make enough versions to run a fair test, not one perfect film. Ads tire as people see them again and again, so plan for steady refreshes. Our post on how many ad creatives a brand needs each month walks through the maths.

Worked example (example numbers): A café in Pune wants to test video ads for a new breakfast menu.

It orders 10 ready-to-run ads: 3 ideas, with 3 or 4 hooks each.

Creative cost: ₹24,999 for 10 ads, which is about ₹2,500 per ad.

Test budget: ₹30,000 of ad spend, paid to Meta from the café's own account, split evenly at ₹3,000 per ad.

Total first-month outlay: ₹24,999 + ₹30,000 = ₹54,999.

After the test, the café keeps the 3 ads with the lowest cost per lead and retires the other 7.

These numbers are for illustration only, not a typical result or a forecast.

How should AI video ads be labelled?

Be open about what is AI-made, and follow each platform's current disclosure rules. Honest labelling protects your account and your reputation.

  • Describe AI-made content as AI-made, inside your team and in any public claims.
  • Do not present an AI presenter as a real customer. See our guide to AI UGC ads for the honesty rules.
  • Show your real product accurately. Do not let AI improve how it looks beyond what a buyer will receive.
  • Keep a short record of which tools and which assets went into each ad.

What does WebMaxs charge for AI video ads?

WebMaxs prices are published, and ad spend is always separate. As of October 2026, the Creative Sprint is $490 or ₹24,999 one time for 10 ready-to-run ads in 7 days. The Launch Growth plan, $1,490 or ₹75,000 a month, includes 8 AI video ads a month plus Meta and Google ads management.

Every AI-made ad from the WebMaxs AI Ad Studio is described as AI-made. We do not make fake customers, fake reviews or fake results.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use my own product footage in an AI video ad?

Yes, and it is often the better choice. Real product shots keep the ad accurate, and AI can build scenes, transitions and backgrounds around them. Send clean, well-lit clips and photos with the brief.

How long should an AI video ad be?

Short enough to deliver the hook and the offer before people scroll on. Many brands make a short cut and a slightly longer cut of the same idea. Let your test results decide which length stays, rather than a rule of thumb.

Who owns an AI video ad once it is made?

That depends on your contract and on the terms of the AI tools used. Ask the agency to confirm in writing that you can use the final files in paid ads, and for how long. Check music and voice licences too.

Can AI voiceovers be done in Hindi or other Indian languages?

Many teams make regional versions, but quality varies by tool and by language. Always have a native speaker check every line for meaning, tone and pronunciation before the ad goes live.

Is ad spend part of the creative fee?

No. Making the ad and showing the ad are separate costs. Ad spend is paid to Meta or Google from your own ad account, on top of whatever you pay for creative.
